Mirror Football suggest that Newcastle United are ready to battle with Tottenham to sign Blackpool starlet Thomas Ince.
Alan Pardew, who is under pressure to add high profile signings to his Magpies ranks following a demoralising summer, has closely tracked the England Under-21 international and believes that he would be a star in the Premier League.
Ince had earlier rejected a switch to the Premier League with newly promoted Cardiff City deciding instead to remain at Bloomfield Road playing under his father Paul.
Now the Magpies are poised to meet the £8 million asking price for the highly rated winger who netted 18 goals for the Tangerines last season to secure safety in the Championship.
Pardew could yet face competition from White Hart Lane with Andre Villas-Boas looking at the 21-year-old as he seeks to shake up his midfield options although the expected recruitment of Willian and Erik Lamela could put a transfer for one of the most promising talents outside of the Premier League on hold.
That could see Ince making the switch to St. James’ Park instead and his dad is keen to see the former Liverpool youngster joining a club where he will gain regular first team football, something that seems likely with the Magpies.
Newcastle could make funds available from the possible sale of Yohan Cabaye who is wanted by both Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain and they could use this money on the impressive goalscoring winger who would be interested in a move.
