They are currently flirting with the relegation fight and news at the Football Transfer Tavern suggests it is not about to get much better for Newcastle United fans – well if Sky Sports are to be believed.
The club have already lost Demba Ba this transfer window and are now bracing themselves to fend off the potential departures of more key players. Add to this the shock snub by high profile transfer targets and times are not good on Tyneside.
It has been much publicised that skipper Fabricio Coloccini wishes to return home to Argentina for personal reasons – something that would be a major blow at this point in the season for the Magpies. The club did initially feel they could keep the player until the summer but now San Lorenzo are pushing hard to land the player – for free.
The Argentinean club claim: “But Coloccini has to end his contract. We depend on the feelings of the player and on what he can negotiate in England. We can’t buy his transfer in no way. San Lorenzo can only point to Coloccini’s feelings and not to his pocket. He has personal problems and wants to return to Argentina. We can only offer him a good contract.”
