Celtic striker Gary Hooper is a player in demand in the Football Transfer Tavern this January and after having their first bid rejected Sky Sports today report that Norwich City are readying an improved for the English striker.
The Premier League side are reported to have offered £5 million for the striker that was knocked back by the SPL champions but Chris Hughton is desperate to secure his services as he looks to bolster the Canaries’ attacking options.
Neil Lennon’s Celtic are reluctant to let their best striker leave the club especially with their Champions League knockout stage tie against Juventus on the horizon and they hope that this will be enough to persuade the 24-year-old to remain at the club until the summer at least.
Hooper has been in fantastic form for the SPL outfit after joining the club from Scunthorpe United in 2010 and that has drawn interest from across the border with a number of Premier League clubs looking to bring him back to England.
The striker has ambitions to play for England in the near future and that is the main reason behind a possible move as he believes that his chances of a call up will increase if he can impress in the Premier League.
However Celtic are likely to want nearer £10 million for the excellent finisher who still has 18 months left to run on his contract at Celtic Park.
