ramirez.jpgThey may be struggling in the Premier League and have even appointed a new manager to haul them far away from the drop zone but Southampton are determined to keep hold of one of their key players according to Goal.com.

New manager Mauricio Pochettino has spoken exclusively to tuttomercatoweb about the future of Uruguayan Gaston Ramirez. The player has impressed this season with not only his vision and passing but also his wicked pace and the three goals he has netted when included.

Of course all of this has led to speculation linking the attack minded player with a move away from the club, yet Pochettino claimed that the record £12 million signing was going nowhere noting that: “Fiorentina and AC Milan interested in Ramirez? It’s normal because Gaston is a young and strong player who is proving at Southampton he can rise to the occasion.”

The former Espanyol manager also weighed in on his own future, admitting that he did not think he would remain at the Saints or indeed in the Premier League for the whole of his career, confessing that: “Me on a Serie A bench? I like Italian football, I also have relatives in Italy. In the future, why not…”

Will Ramirez stick it out at St. Mary’s or flee for foreign shores in the summer? Rate this rumour below.

Can you explain how a team that was widely tipped to be relegated but is in 16th position, 4 points and a much greater goal difference above safety, have lost once in their last 9 fixtures and their last result being a convincing win over the league champions are ‘struggling’
