Edinson Cavani’s future has been a hot topic of conversation here in the Football Transfer Tavern, but news has emerged from sources at talkSPORT that French giants Paris Saint Germain are preparing to hijack the move.
The Napoli striker is one of the most sought-after forwards in Europe, having already bagged 20 goals in Serie A this season. Chelsea have been previously linked with the Uruguayan international, and recent reports have linked Manchester City with a £45 million move for the man they see as a direct replacement for Mario Balotelli.
However, PSG are more than capable of matching the English pair in the transfer market, and have set their sights on a dream partnership of Cavani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The club who are backed by billioniare Qatari owners are desperate to break into Europe’s elite, and the signing of Cavani would certainly go a long way in justifying that aim.
Cavani’s ex-team mate at Napoli, Ezequiel Lavezzi made the move from the Stadio San Paolo to the French capital in the summer.
