Ronny return wouldn’t surprise United enforcer
Excitement is rife in the Football Transfer Tavern, as news of a possible return to Manchester United for Cristiano Ronaldo reaches us courtesy of Neil Custis at The Sun.
Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic has added fuel to the speculation of a possible homecoming for Ronny, saying he ‘would not be surprised’ to see the former hero back at Old Trafford next season.
Vidic and United will be on opposing sides this evening when Real Madrid arrive at Old Trafford for the second leg of the Champions League second round tie, although Vidic reckons next season could be a different story.
Vidic said: “It would be a big ask for many reasons. I would love to see Cristiano here. I could see it.
“He is a United supporter. Even though he left he still follows United and still misses the club and the environment here.”
It has been reported Ronaldo would infact be willing to take a huge paycut to return to the Premier League with Manchester United – mutterings that have got fans dreaming of an emotional reunion in the summer.
Vidic was full of praise for his former team mate also, saying if a move did come to fruition, United would be able to boast having the worlds best player in their ranks, as the Serb rates his former team mate higher than Lionel Messi.
The defender, 31, said: “They are both great players but, in recent years, Barcelona have won more trophies and I think that is why people have put Ronaldo to one side.
“The way he plays, he can play in England, he can shoot with his left, his right, he can jump and head the ball. He can dribble, he can do everything.
“I don’t say Messi cannot do that but the way Barcelona play suits his style.
“Ronaldo has been changing games for the last four years for Madrid.
“Every time he walks on the pitch he wants to score. He has that hunger in every game.”
