Selling Huddlestone Would Be A Great Move For All Concerned

One of Tottenham’s forgotten men Tom Huddlestone may be offered a career lifeline from former Tottenham and now Fulham boss Martin Jol.

Tom Huddlestone’s Tottenham career has stalled after a series of injury plagued his first team opportunities. As players such as Parker, Modric and Van Der Vaart flourished during his absence Huddlestone found himself to be a forgotton man at White Hart Lane.

As Tottenham looked to claim Champions League qualification they have of course improved their squad. Unfortunately, when clubs improve their squads certain players fall by the wayside in the process.

A once promising midfield player, Huddlestone was flourishing at Spurs and seemed like a good prospect for England but injuries and a loss of form coupled with Tottenham’s improving squad meant his career stalled like an old car.

Martin Jol is ready to offer him a lifeline at London rivals Fulham as he continues his search for Danny Murphy’s replacement. Huddlestone was once regarded one of the best passers in the Premier League and if he can recapture that form he would be an ideal replacement for the midfield maestro Murphy.

Still only 25 Huddlestone has one year remaining on his Spurs contract, couple this with his only four league appearances last season Fulham may just grab Huddlestone at a rock bottom price.

A move would suit all parties as Huddlestone would find himself at a club with less competition and a chance to recapture some form, Fulham would get a potentially great player and Tottenham would add to their transfer kitty and get another player off their wage bill meaning they are in a position of offering bigger name players higher wages.

Why would we want to sell? does not make sense, Hudd has not lost any skill just had a season out with injury. He is a very good player who under rotation by AVB will shine once again, he is as good as Sandro and if VDV leaves which I think he will Hudd will be needed.

Thuddleston will be superb with sandro and Parker. Answer = no.

Rather than huddledtone leaves why don’t you trot on sir! Go off and learn about football perhaps?

I must say I do not agree. It might be okay if Huddlestone goes on loan for 1 season to help regain match fitness but I can’t see him playing for another team. He is a great talent, young and English. It would be foolish to sell!

No chance, he is key to Spurs future, and once fit will regain his place. Nobody dictates the tempo we play better than Thudd, even Modric.

The Huddlestones best position will be a central defender in time. We should not sell him.

What rubbish – he had a season long injury and is working his way back to fitness. His range of passing will suit AVB game in mf as ok he does not have so much pace but his speed of thought in spotting a killer pass is exceptional I think we will see plenty of Thud this season is a SPURS shirt. COYS!!

I’d prefer for Huddlestone to stay, but we might get shot of him because he is on a 30-40k a week contract and has played a handful of games over the last few seasons.

Tom is a great player, but if he never plays, he is costing us space on the wage budget. We have enough problems just like this in defence. We have so many players that don’t play enough games, time to get shot of some of them and have a clean slate I reckon.

Blimey, someone’s got an over-active imagination.

Huddlestone’s career has not ‘stalled’ at all. He’s been injured, plain & simple.

If he had been fit in the latter part of last season, he would have played.

Over 100 appearances in the previous three seasons. Over 40 of those in the season we qualified for CL, second only to Gomez.
Do you know anything about spurs? The Hudd is a legend and he’s only just warming up.

Agree with Eddie – Thudd is a good centre half in the making – if only he were as a rapid as Lennon.

Shame we don’t play with a libero in England, he’d be marvellous in that position.

Good CM too – better than Penas and Livermore.

A very unfair article, both on Huddlestone and Spurs fans. Firstly, his career has not ‘stalled like an old car’, he merely had a season out due to a serious injury, as happens to many players. At the age of 25 he is more than capable of regaining the level he was at prior to this. Secondly, any Spurs fan worth his salt has not ‘forgotten’ about Huddlestone. I, personally still hold him in high regard and am looking to seeing him back in a Spurs shirt. Silly article.

He will become England’s equivalent to Pirlo. He’s never played in a midfield designed to cover him.he’s always asked to be the cover.
With Parker and sandro beasting around, they can unleash the Thudd to make the killer pass.

For England it will be Parker, wiltshire and Thudd.

        Love it!

Where on earth do you dream this stuff up.
Fulham have neither the funds or attractiveness to entice him and Spurs are not going to let a good young talent go.
