Should Spurs Return To A Director Of Football System?

The Daily Mail have reported that Tottenham are looking to resort to the continental style of running a football club along with the introduction of a new manager being unveiled in the next few days.

The Director of Football format is used at some of the top clubs in Europe and is also used by several clubs in the Premier League including Liverpool and Chelsea, as well as Spurs looking to adapt to this format.

The newspaper have said that Tim Sherwood is set to be appointed as the new Director of Football at Spurs, despite other backroom colleagues being released by the club in association with Redknapp.

Sherwood is part of a minority of people who have survived the axe of Redknapp as manager, but instead is said to be lined up to be promoted for his second time in 4 years.

The new format will mean that transfer deals will be discussed more between the four key members of the technical team: the Chairman Daniel Levy, the future manager, the future director of football and also a new addition to Spurs who would be the chief scout.

This could look good for Tottenham if AVB is to be appointed as manager. The former Chelsea boss worked under this format at Stamford Bridge which could help see him be the next Spurs manager as he won’t need to adapt to this hierarchy.

But the Daily Mail have reported that someone like David Moyes will not appreciate this style of management and could turn him away from talks with the club if they were offered to him.

AVB didn’t have any fall outs with the people in the hierarchy though did he?

The fact is that Roman was not happy with his results, there were no power issues.

        well, I guess perhaps not.

However, avb didn’t seem to get the respect he needed from some of the chelsea players. And it appeared he didn’t have the power to get rid of them.

That’s a recipe for disaster, which I am afraid could easily happen at tottenham if they adopt a similar structure. If avb joins thfc it would be extremely important to let him be the boss of who stays and who leaves the club, to avoid the same player uprising that (appeared to have) happened at chelsea.

If we are then make it someone with the expereince and the quality, ie that guy from Barcelona whose name (?Basque) I forget as he is available and make Sherwood his second. As for manager?
