Sir Alex Ferguson casts eye over SPL talent
Here in the Football Transfer Tavern we like to follow Sir Alex Ferguson closely especially during the peak of a transfer window so it was intriguing to see him attend Celtic’s game against Dundee last night.
Mail Online report that the Old Trafford manager was at Parkhead to cast his eye over Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama as looks to strengthen his squad during the summer months.
Wanyama, who joined Celtic from Belgian side Germinal Beerschot in 2011, was in fine form for the rampant Bhoys during their 4-0 victory and even got his name on the score sheet alongside a Gary Hooper brace and a Scott Brown effort for Neil Lennon’s side.
The 21-year-old is reported to have a host of suitors from the Premier League with Chelsea and Arsenal also interested but Ferguson seems to have stepped up his interest by watching the 21-year-old in action yesterday.
Strong, powerful, tough tackling and able to run all day, Wanyama would certainly fit into the dynamics of the Premier League, and would give United a different type of midfielder.
Lennon will be eager to hold onto the combative Kenyan international midfielder who has been instrumental in taking Celtic to the knockout stages of the Champions League. The Hoops have valued Wanyama at £25 million in a desperate attempt to keep him in Glasgow.
Our landlord goes on to explain to punters that Wanyama was also linked with a move to Arsenal yesterday by the Evening Standard and it appears that Celtic could face a battle to hold onto his services.
