Southampton Playing Hardball With Premiership Big Boys?

Southampton’s next hot prospect Luke Shaw is attracting much interest from the Premier Leagues top clubs with Arsenal and Chelsea leading the chase over the Manchester clubs.
Chelsea are preparing to make the first move by offering the newly promoted south coast club £4m for their wonderkid, a bid which Southampton will reportedly reject.
Southampton’s academy has produced other top talent including Arsenal duo Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott as well as Tottenham’s Gareth Bale. It seems Shaw is the latest academy graduate destined for great things and he could still follow in his predecessors footsteps by moving to a Premier League giant soon after his 17th birthday.
The left back has represented his country at both U-16 and U-17 level but only made one first team appearance for Southampton last season. The club are preparing to offer Shaw a 3-year professional contract when he turns 17 next week meaning they can decide whether to hold onto the player or wait for a great offer.
I don’t know anything about Shaw and won’t pretend to but if Southampton’s track record is anything to go by then I would welcome Shaw to Stamford Bridge.

Saints won’t sell. At least for a couple of years anyway.
They have the funds to resist any offers, and aim to have 50% of their first team players from the academy. Selling Shaw would seriously undermine this plan.

I don’t know who writes this rubbish, but to say that Luke Shaw only played one game for Southampton last season. He’s only 16 for goodness sake!
We needed the money before, but not now.

I didn’t say he only played once in a bad way I was merely stating a fact.

they’ll spend more money I think, when he really has a talent..

Lets get this straight the lad does not have a contract so he can walk at any time for little more than a training fee!
