roberto.jpgPunters in the Football Transfer Tavern believe Tottenham are going to be extremely busy in the transfer market this summer and their first signing could be Barcelona’s Sergi Roberto according to Metro.

Roberto has been on the fringes of the Barcelona first team for two years now and is struggling to make an impact in a highly talented midfield that often sees the likes of former Arsenal pair Cesc Fabregas and Alex Song also missing out.

Tottenham have been monitoring the situation surrounding the Spaniard in recent months and chairman Daniel Levy was at the Camp Nou last week to discuss a potential move.

The 21-year-old midfielder has come through the ranks at the Catalan club and is built in a similar mould to legend Xavi with his fast passing and deeper role in the midfield.

Spurs would have to cough up £7 million for the unproven youngster who could add some much needed quality to their midfield.

And next week it will be yet another unknown player supposedly headed to Spurs. We have been linked with every Tom, Dick and Harry across the globe by the media yet the same clowns who link us with these players contradict themselves by tell the world that we cant afford them. The Spurs Chairman would not tell anyone in the media which player the club was interested in. It is all paper talk picked up from foreign rags and without any proof or substance turned into so called new in this country.

Agreed. Last week there was a rumour that Levy was in Spain talking to Barca about their players. Since then we have been linked with this guy, Tello, and David Villa. If they all come off its going to cost best part £30. Don’t get me wrong a world class striker, a young striker, and a creative midfielder would all be lovely. But I think in reality it’s just silly season. Next Messi’s brother will be seen walking past an estate agents in north London that will turn into ‘Messi house hunting before Sputs move’

one thing I have come to realise if the papers say that spurs is interested in a certain player . then scratch him off the list . very rarely are they right.
