mackie.jpgSome interesting news involving a potential Premier League striker swap has reached us in the Football Transfer Tavern, courtesy of Alan Nixon at the Daily Mirror.

Queens Park Rangers boss Harry Redknapp has reportedly held a meeting with his mate Tony Pulis at Stoke in a bid to thrash out a deal that involves swapping Peter Crouch for Jamie Mackie.

Redknapp is keen to link up once again with Crouch, who he has managed at Portsmouth (twice), Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur, and is willing to part company with Scotland international Mackie.

Former England forward Crouch has been left frustrated at the Britannia Stadium in recent weeks after losing his first team place to Kenwyne Jones, and has struggled for regular first team football with the likes of Cameron Jerome and Michael Owen still pushing for a starting berth.

He may be interested in a return to London, and a return to QPR – the club he began his career with over a decade ago.

Pulis would be willing to let Crouch – and his large wages – go if he were able to get Mackie.

Mackie is something of a fans favourite at Loftus Road due to his tireless work rate and important goals, so it will be interesting to see the fans reaction to his potential sale.

Will this Premier League swap come off before the deadline? Rate this rumour below.
