Summer Cottagers switch for Ghanaian ace?
Arsenal fans inside the Football Transfer Tavern are sad to hear one of the clubs biggest characters is in line for a permanent switch away from the Emirates Stadium in the summer, according to Darren Witcoop of the Daily Mirror.
Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong is currently enjoying his third loan spell away from the Gunners, this time across London with Fulham, which is where he is set to stay with it being revealed Arsene Wenger no longer sees him as part of his long-term plans.
There were high hopes for Frimpong at the Emirates, but it seems the 21-year-old is set to leave having never really made an impact in the Gunners first team ranks.
He is something of a large character off the field, with his antics on Twitter and sense of humour earning him the status of something of a cult figure.
The Ghana midfielder has been with the Gunners since he was nine-years-old – but he can leave for nothing at the end of the season.
Fulham boss Martin Jol is in pole position to land Frimpong, 21, on a permanent deal.
Jol said: “If there is an opportunity to take him, I would probably do it.”
Jol is also busy in extending the stay of players he already has at his disposal, with it emerging defender Chris Baird is set to become the latest player to extend his contract at Craven Cottage.
The 31-year-old is set to pen a new one year deal, joining Damien Duff and Phillipe Senderos in extending his stay in West London.
