It’s very hard not to have been impressed by Swansea City this season. Michael Laudrup’s side are in seventh place in the Premier League and have reached the final of the Capital One Cup – quite an achievement from a a club bottom of the Football League just 10 years ago.
This superb season has been spearheaded by striker Michu and Swans fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have been left delighted with news that he remains committed to the club.
The Spanish star scored a brace for his side during yesterday’s 4-1 victory over QPR to take his overall total to an impressive 18 goals for the season and his excellent form has alerted the top clubs in England and Spain sparking talk he could leave the club.
However the 26-year-old has insisted that he is loving with life at Swansea and although admitting that he has ambitions to play in the Champions League, he first wants to win the League Cup with his current club and qualify for the Europa League.
“All players want to get to the very top, but I’m really happy at Swansea. I’m not thinking about next year or big clubs,” Michu told Sky Sports.
“It’s good when your name is mentioned alongside big clubs, but I’m living a dream in Swansea.
“I’m also waiting for the final against Bradford. We have a chance to get into Europe.
“My first year in the UK has been really good. I’m really enjoying living in the UK and I plan to stay here for a long time.”
The former Rayo Vallencano forward recently signed a contract extension at the Liberty Stadium and it looks likely he’ll be staying around South Wales for a while longer despite interest from across Europe.
