Taxi To The Bridge For Maicon

I reported of Chelsea’s search for a new right back a few days ago, during which I described a shortlist of right backs who the club were touting. Maicon was only described as a reserve to the shortlist if all other bids failed.

Well somehow Maicon has shot right to the top of the list in a matter of days and is reportedly on his way to Stamford Bridge for a reported £6m.

The Brazilian, who turns 31 next month, was subject to interest from Real Madrid but they were reportedly put off by his price tag.

Di Matteo and Abramovich obviously haven’t been and see £6m as a good deal for such an experienced and established right back.

He has won numerous titles and cups in Italy and a few tournaments for Brazil and will provide great cover to Branislav Ivanovic.

I hope he is only being signed as cover to Ivanovic – who has also been linked with Real Madrid – and not as a replacement. I see Ivanovic as one of the best right backs in the Premier League and I don’t think Maicon could fill his boots.

I have some doubts over Maicon especially after the mauling Gareth Bale gave to him in the Champions League two seasons ago and the fact he played in an Inter Milan team that finished outside the top four in Italy. His experience and low transfer fee calm any of these doubts as long as he is only being signed as a replacement for Jose Bosingwa, because we can all agree he couldn’t be any worse.

The Daily Mail suggest Chelsea are still interested in Lille’s Mathieu Debuchy which I’m sure will feul the Ivanovic to Madrid rumour further.

Refresh this transfer rumour!

i think that ivanovic has been really good and i personally think he is still one of the best defenders in the world. Maicon would be really good for us but i think we need another RB such as Piecek or Debuchy or Van der wiel and hopefully we get modric and hulk too.

Ivanavich has stated that he doesn’t want to be the main RB he wants to focus on CB. So after that who do you have? No one that is proven. You can sign VDW or debuchy but one their clubs probably upped the price after the Euros and they will hinder Hutchinson from growing. Macon for a short term RB is great, hutch can study from him and in two years take his place instead of bringing other players that will be at Chelsea do 5 plus years and not give the youth the shot most people are crying about. The Macon move makes since and he is still brtter than bossingwa and most RB in the EPL. If not than the money and wages is not throat cutting and can test the market again in january

Would like to see Cavani come to Chelsea, perfect replacement for Drogba and partner for Torres. Modric would be a good addition but failing that Dzagoev would be a good signing. Also with the right back situation, why not go in for Micah Richards? Not getting many games for Man City and would be great for our new look team, could have an all English back 4.

I will like to see micon in chelsea shirt this season as a replacement for bossingwa and i’ll like chelsea to add young right back like joao perriera, van dar wiel and debuchy. Rdm must sign hulk, modric, moses and striker maybe rondon or jovetic as a replacement for didier drogba.

mAICON IS BEING SIGNED AS A SHORT TERM REPLACEMENT FOR BOSINGWA.hE WILL BE COVER FOR OUR MAIN RIGHT BACK WHICH WE ARE YET TO SIGN.tHERE IS NO RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MAICON AND IVANOVICH IN TERMS OF POSITION SINCE IVANOVICH IS PLAYED AS CB WHERE HE PREFERS.GUYS SHOULD BE MORE INTELLIGENT IN THEIR ANALYSIS

Maicon rotation with Ivanovic; Ivan rotation with Luiz and Cahill; Terry could well be suspended from the pending court case; either way, Maicon makes so much sense and more so due to his age; we have an exciting talent for RB in the youth ranks; Todd Kane, so it adds up to bring Kane on in the long run and learn from Maicon and Ivan.
