This weekend sees what is without doubt the one the biggest Premier League games of the season.

Arsenal and Spurs have been playing each other since 1887. On that first occasion the Royal Arsenal, as they were then called got off lightly – poor light stopped play with Lilywhites ahead – the scoreline 1-2.  The game took place in Arsenal’s then home, which was in Plumstead. But it was when the Arsenal moved to their much loved long term home in Highbury in 1913 that they became Spurs’ nearest rivals. The North London Derby was born.

The ‘stats’ for these derbies make for interesting reading. But in a essence Spurs have always been the underdog. To give perspective and to add some ‘spice’ to this weekend’s game Tottenham’s most prolific goal scorers against Arsenal (such as Bobby Smith for example) retired from the game before many of you reading this were born. But of the 3 Arsenal players who have all scored a record 8 times against Spurs one is still very much plying his trade in the top flight.

That man’s name is Emmanuel Adebayor.

Here’s a the North London Derby featuring the two biggest bloggers out there, for Arsenal – Arseblog and for Spurs – Harry Hotspur. The download is free, just click below.

Arsenal and Spurs have been playing from long time since 1887 and all the time arsenal had a upper hand on Spurs. Emmanuel Adebayor is still a wonderful player compared to many.
