song.jpgArsene Wenger is not one to spend unnecessary money but in recent years the clubs best midfielders seem to be leaving the club without being properly replaced and that is affecting the North London clubs success.

The likes of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri have now been brushed under the carpet as Arsenal are beginning to look like a menacing attacking threat once again, however one man who has not been forgotten is Barcelona’s Alex Song.

Song was different from the majority of Gunners midfielders in that he often possessed the physicality to break up attacks and enforce from the middle of the park. Arsenal’s lack of a holding midfielder is evident throughout most games and it is something Wenger is yet to address.

Mikel Arteta has come in and looked solid enough, but a string of injuries has prevented him from finding his best form. Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla much prefer going forward and so leave space in behind them free for the opposition to exploit. The likes of Abou Diaby and Aaron Ramsey are not going to cut it for one reason or another so it is time Wenger made his impressive midfield, the complete midfield.
