Just about every day here in the Football Transfer Tavern we see Arsenal linked to yet another player and it seems that the media and our punters are more than a little bit excited at the news that Arsene Wenger has a rumoured transfer kitty of £70 million to spend.

The French manager has notoriously been known for his shall we say money saving traits when it comes to transfer windows and has been reluctant to spend big money on just about any player – or on their wages.

That has seen the club miss out on a host of players who have then gone to Premier League rivals and been sensational for them, not to mention added to the problem of players leaving due to the lack of trophies and perceived ambition at the club. Wenger has reportedly given up on his old ways and is not only looking to spend big on a star man up top, but also on a centre back, a goalkeeper and a defensive midfielder. Add to this the fact that several players will be shipped out to make room for the new ones and it will be an interesting summer at the Emirates Stadium.
