As Arsenal close in on making it eight years without a trophy, Gunners fans in the Football Transfer Tavern desperately need some good news however discussion has now turned to who they believe have been the worst signings under Arsene Wenger and haven’t repaid the faith he has shown in them.
There is little doubt that Arsenal fans have had a lot to remember in recent times, regularly challenging at the top of the English first division and in major European competitions as the club became one of the biggest in European football.
As the new newfangled money-led Premier League developed Arsenal were one of the first on the foreign players steam train bringing an array of footballers from all corners of the globe to firstly Highbury and then to the Emirates Stadium.
Consequently Gunners supporters have been lucky enough to witness some of the finest players in world football such as Thierry Henry, Robert Pires and Dennis Bergkamp. But for every Thierry, Robert or Dennis it is fair to admit that they have also been rather unfortunate to see some absolute shockers under Arsene Wenger as well.
It may not have always been down to their real lack of ability, talent or commitment, but for one reason or another the players in question endured periods with the club that were quite simply a disaster.
