Top ten Liverpool transfers ‘that got away’

Liverpool have seen some of the finest players in world football gracing the Anfield turf and the club have made some outstanding signings over the years with bargains like Kevin Keegan, who was lured away from Scunthorpe United for just £35,000 before becoming one of the best players in the world.

There have also been massive flops who are better left in the history books but then there are those players that were on the edge of signing and were ready to pull on the famous red jersey but for some reason the expected transfer failed to materialise.

In recent years without the huge carrot of Champions League football not on offer, the Reds have discovered a harsher reality as long-term transfer targets have signed for rivals instead.

This had led to Liverpool supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern imagining what could have been had these players actually signed for the club and if they had matched the ambition on show.
