A transfer rumour from Germany has reached us here in the Football Transfer Tavern, courtesy of Charles Perrin of the Daily Express, who reckons Tottenham are on course to sign striker Heung-Min Son from Bundesliga outfit Hamburg.
Andre Villas-Boas is in the market for a new striker, with Emmanuel Adebayor leaving for the African Cup of Nations, and Jermaine Defoe his only other out-and-out striking option.
Spurs have been linked with the likes of Alvaro Negredo of Sevilla and Internacional forward Leandro Damiao, although it appears AVB may be about to opt for the more affordable option in Son.
Rafael van der Vaart – a former Spurs midfielder and current team mate of Son at Hamburg was complimentary of his former club when speaking to German newspaper Bild, suggesting he has spoken positively about the London club to their latest potential striker.
He said: “Spurs always try to recruit the best talent from around the world. It’s why they are almost top every year.”
Son has been in good form for Hamburg this season, and has six Bundesliga goals to his name so far.
