Punters in the Football Transfer Tavern are patiently waiting for the big Premier League kick off on Saturday and are trying to keep entertained via picking up the latest transfer rumours.
Some intriguing speculation emerged from John Drayton who works for Mail Online after he arrived at the bar to explain to punters that Tottenham have nearly completed a deal that will see Croatian midfielder Alen Halilovic arrive at White Hart Lane this summer.
The Dinamo Zagreb star has already been the subject of a bid from Spurs when a fee of around £17 million was thought to be agreed for Halilovic and defender Tin Jedvaj. However the latter starlet signed for Roma instead to end a possible double deal.
Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has long been a keen admirer of Dinamo Zagreb’s Halilovic, who became the youngest scorer in Croatian football last year, and although he has yet to agree personal terms, a fee of £12 million is understood to have been agreed between the two clubs which will see him joining the Lilywhites this summer.
Halilovic has been compared to former Spurs hero Luka Modric, who spent four successful years at White Hart Lane following his £15 illionm arrival from Zagreb in 2008, and if he can produce anywhere near the sort of brilliance his Croatian team-mate did while at White Hart Lane, this could prove to be a signing that goes down well with the Spurs faithful in the tavern.
