Tottenham fans are looking forward to what will surely be a busy period before the transfer window closes as the Gareth Bale record breaking transfer to Madrid nears its conclusion while many replacements for him are found.
The Independent now report that Tottenham may look to raid Roma for Miralem Pjanic as well as Erik Lamela.
As has been reported earlier, Spurs are facing a major blow after seeing top target Willian poached from under their noses by London rivals Chelsea after the Anzhi Makhachkala winger reportedly changed his mind, instead moving to Chelsea despite passing a medical at White Hart Lane.
Spurs director of football Franco Baldini has flown into Spain personally to complete the transfer of the Welsh international to the Bernabeu and the world record deal could be announced by early next week.
Baldini is also working on the joint transfer for Pjanic and Lamela after spending time at the Stadio Olimpico as general manager before being headhunted by Daniel Levy this summer for Spurs. He now wants the two attack minded players to follow him to White Hart Lane as Spurs look to take their spending pass the £60 million mark for the transfer window.
The likes of Roberto Soldado, Nacer Chadli, Paulinho and Etienne Capoue have arrived for Andre Villas-Boas’ side but the spending spree has not finished and when asked if Lamela and Pjanic would join the club he replied: ”They have not signed for Spurs. Both of them are great players but I cannot extend myself. We will see some new players in defence and attack.”
