Not a day goes by in the Football Transfer Tavern without news concerning Tottenham Hotspur cropping up and today is no different.
John Cross of the Daily Mirror, has news of two potential exits from White Hart Lane and neither of them is concerning Gareth ‘my heart is in Madrid’ Bale!
John, who has set his laptop up over by the jukebox, is telling punters that Andre Villas-Boas is trying to offload one of Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor, with the Togo international the preferred choice.
Defoe is attracting interest from Queens Park Rangers and Qatari club Al-Gharafa, who believe they can interest the England international with one big final pay off, however neither suitor appeals to the former Portsmouth striker that much.
Adebayor, John tells us, is subject of a £5 million bid from Bundesliga side Schalke but the German side are also happy to take the former Arsenal man on loan with a view to buy at the end of the season.
This news doesn’t really bring much of a response from Tottenham fans, just the odd, and predictable, quip of “I will drive Adebayor to Germany”.
A rather low key story for Spurs fans but after the Bale saga pulling at the ol’ heartstrings all summer, I bet it’s nice to relax and just enjoy your time in the tavern.
