Tottenham have taken their spending towards the £60 million mark this summer after confirming their fourth signing in the form of Toulouse midfielder Etienne Capoue according to Sky Sports.
The 25-year-old French international, who can also feature in central defence, has collected seven caps for his country and will join up with Andre Villas-Boas’ squad ahead of the big kick off on Saturday.
Spurs announced on their official Twitter site: “We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Toulouse for the transfer of Etienne Capoue.”
Capoue revealed after playing in France’s 0-0 draw with Belgium yesterday: “There are only some paperwork to sign now. I will be at the training ground [on Thursday].
“Tottenham is a super club. It’s the best club to continue my career. It should be official very quickly.”
Capoue has been an ever-present in the Ligue 1 side, making over 30 league appearances in each of the last five seasons for the club, and he will certainly add some further competition for places in defence and midfield after seeing Steven Caulker, Tom Huddlestone and William Gallas depart White Hart Lane this summer.
Spurs have already added Valencia forward Roberto Soldado, Brazilian midfielder Paulinho and Belgian winger Nacer Chadli as Villas-Boas prepares for a big campaign at White Hart Lane.
