Tottenham to smash transfer record for striker?
Tottenham fans inside the Football Transfer Tavern were left disappointed in January following the clubs failure to sign a centre forward, although sources at the Epping Forest Guardian reckon the clubs supporters may be smiling in the summer.
The club are reportedly ready to smash their transfer record with a £22 million bid for Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain.
Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas believes his side are just a couple of major signings short of having a team capable of challenging for the title, and has made securing a world class centre forward his number one priority for the summer.
Higuain fits the bill, with the Argentine having a fantastic goal scoring record for Real Madrid, and at international level with Argentina.
He doesn’t always play regularly at the Bernabeau however, with Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo often picked ahead of him for the loan striker role.
He has still managed ten goals in 27 appearances this season, and is understood to fancy a switch to the Premier League at the end of the season.
Tottenham’s previous record transfer was the £17m spent on David Bentley, and know they will have to trump that figure still with Real wanting over £20m for the Argentine.
The Spanish giants have been linked with a big money move themselves for Tottenham star Gareth Bale, and may look to offer Higuain as part of the package to bring the Welshman to Spain.

Yea yea. Another piece of crap conjecture. By the way. It’s “lone” striker role. Not loan. This spelling mistake, from so called journalists typifies what is wrong with these so called ITK’s. If you cannot use correct spellings, how can you be expected to write quality, informed pieces?

There is no way Daniel Levy will make Bale part of the deal as the new Spurs team will be built around Gareth Bale. He is the key to Spurs success. Personally I would like Leandro Dalmiao at Spurs as I think he would be brilliant for Spurs and I think he would settle in very quickly with one of his mates already at Spurs.

No doubt if Spurs can add 3 big name players we will be a major force. Its clearing out the talent to enable the wages that come with it. Imagine a team that looks like
Lloris
Walker Kaboul Vertonghen Cissokho
Sandro Moutinho Dembele
Lennon Bale
Dalmiao
Bench: Sigurdson, Holtby (Can go anywhere across 5 man midfield), Defoe, Coulibaly, Dawson, Naughton.

LOL Dalmiao? or it Dormio sauce LOL. I bet you watched Leandro at last summers olympics playing average to poor competition for Brazil and thought thats the guy.He DOESNT wanna join us!If he did he would be in a Spurs kit by now like Sandro. Gonzalo Higuain is PROVEN his all round game is better and theres no reason why it couldnt happen.Hes wife is moving to London. He alway scores for Real and never looks out of place in a line up with Ronaldo etc. many rate him over Benzema . Real have allot of politics.
