Harry Redknapp The Catalyst For A Tottenham Exodus?

Vedran Corluka has warned Tottenham fans that Spurs’ key players might follow Redknapp out of the door.  The Tottenham defender has said that players including Bale, Modric and Van der Vaart will not be at White Hart Lane next season with the club failing to get Champions League football.

“Not getting into the Champions’ League will cost Spurs next season. Even though they were unlucky to get fourth and still not be there.”

Even Corluka has admitted that he will leave this season with the likely target being Bayer Leverkusen according to The Mirror.

Whilst it is clear to see Corluka’s point, I still think that Tottenham will keep onto their prized possession.

Whilst it can be argued that Van Der Vaart could be replaced by a younger and less injury prone attacking midfielder, it would be much more diffuclt for Tottenham to replace Gareth Bale and Luka Modric without splashing the cash.

But, with the exodus list starting to build up, the role of the next manager will need to build the club around the few remaining players. The players so far who are likely to leave are: Gomes to PSV, Dos Santos to Wigan, Bassong to Monaco, Corluka to Leverkusen, Pienaar to Everton and Nelsen and Saha being released.

So currently, Tottenham have only got Defoe as their striker and therefore transfers must be made to sustain a squad which can be sufficiently rotated.

The main point which must be considered however is ‘who will the next manager be?’

If Spurs are to bring in an unexperienced manager, obviously it would be likely that the players would leave as they wouldn’t feel they could make it into Europe’s elite competition next season. But, if Levy is to bring in Guardiola, just for the sake of the arguement, it would be extremely unlikely that Modric and Bale would want to leave as they know that a manager with a reputable position in Europe could lead them to success.

However, if the players are to leave or not, it seems like their fate is in Levy’s hands as he decides who should replace Redknapp as manager of Spurs.

Refresh this transfer rumour!
