Traore Move To Liverpool Is Utter Fabrication

Anzhi Makhachkala striker Lacina Traore has been linked with a move to Liverpool, while Italian side Udinese also reportedly interested in signing the massive forward.

The Ivory Coast international, dubbed the ‘gentle giant’ due to his incredible near seven foot frame, has been in wonderful form for Anzhi so far this season, scoring 12 goals in 20 games, including a wonderful lob against Liverpool in their recent Europa league encounter.  With such performances registering around Europe, Liverpool have now stated an apparent interest in bringing the big man to Merseyside.

He would be a decent signing for many sides in England, standing at six foot eight inches, Traore would prove to be a commanding presence in the opposing half, with his towering height dwarfing even the largest of Premier League defenders.  His height isn’t his only commanding feature however, he breaks the stereotypical mould that tall players lack the skill and co-ordination to play the ball on the floor, while Traore demonstrated against the likes of Liverpool just how well he can turn and move with the ball at his feet.

However, this rumoured move is nothing more than paper talk for Liverpool, he only recently moved clubs in the summer, and that was for an estimated fee of 18 million euros.  Take into consideration that Liverpool were unable to pay the £8 million required to sign Clint Dempsey in the summer transfer window, and it becomes pretty obvious that not only do Liverpool lack the funds to purchase a player like Traore, but that his mega rich club in Anzhi will certainly have no need to sell one of their star assets.

Finally, don’t Liverpool already have a big centre forward that was purchased for £35 million just over a year ago?  A forward that was kicked out on loan to West Ham the moment Brendan Rodgers became the new manager, as he didn’t fit the passing style Rodgers implements in his team? Traore may have better ball control than Andy Carroll, but if Rodgers was unwilling to give the Englishman a chance to prove that a big man can be used in a short passing game, then Traore will not fare any better.

Would Traore be a decent option for Liverpool? Leave your comments below.

Liverpool weren’t unable to pay the 8 million for Clint Dempsey they just decided he wasn’t worth that so walked away from the deal. I for one was happy we didn’t get Dempsey and lets be honest he hasn’t been exactly a revelation for Spurs has he?

Still I don’t think we are after Lacina Traore too
