Something that has been talked about here at the Football Transfer Tavern all day is the North London derby yesterday. The victory for Spurs not only sent them seven points clear of Arsenal but it also showed exactly who is on the top when it comes to the bitter rivals.
In a move that has seen Arsene Wenger finally have to face up to just how far Arsenal have fallen, Spurs also finally realised that they are not only genuine contenders for a top four spot but that they are well in with a chance to push for the top two.
The picture that we simply could not ignore this morning is the one of Gareth Bale who is not only Spurs star man and scorer of the first sublime goal but he also took it upon himself to show Arsenal fans exactly what the score was. In a move reminiscent of Gerard Pique’s high-five after the stunning victory against Real Madrid in Jose Mourinho’s first season, Bale held up not one but two hands to show exactly what happened at the Lane.
Despite Arsenal making a late play for a comeback, their formerly inferior rivals made a good show of defending in the latter part of the game and showed exactly why we have been raving about AVB’s men this season. Add to this the former Chelsea manager has guided Spurs to third – a place higher than Chelsea, the Portuguese manager has enjoyed quite some season.
Does the Bale picture below make you smile or make you cringe?
