Welsh ace to join Arsenal or Liverpool?
There is great news here in the Football Transfer Tavern as we have learnt via the Daily Mirror that Michael Laudrup may have agreed to stay at Swansea City but he has also acknowledged that Ashley Williams may well be on his way out of the club.
The central defender has long been linked with a move away from the Swans and after his form this season it is not surprising. Williams of course had an almost Ricardo Carvalho-like rise to fame after coming from literally nothing (sorry Stockport County!) and is now a £10 million target for Premier League giants Liverpool and Arsenal.
Laudrup claimed that there was little he could do if Williams eyes lit up at the prospect, noting that: “When there are rumours about these clubs wanting someone from here, it is because the player has done well. What can I do? I can’t call Arsenal and say, ‘Is it true?’ I don’t think Arsene Wenger would answer.”
He further added that Chico Flores’ future was in doubt as the centre half is rumoured to be on the radar of Bayern Munich and the Dane knows he could well be on his way to losing both of his impressive centre backs. He claimed: “He (Williams) and Chico Flores have been a great pair. They are doing great together and I will be unhappy to lose that pairing for next season.”

Old stories being recirculated! Who can say what the future holds, but Ash’s own recent press statements talk about stability and keeping the team together. None of the suitors are likely to offer CL next season and the Swans will be in the Euro league. It may come down to money but the 8-10m that has been quoted won’t be enough. Glad our Scouser friend doesn’t want any more Swans players: we certainly don’t want that under-achieving Yank-owned outfit trying to unsettle our guys.
