Demba Ba’s name has been bought up once more in the Football Transfer Tavern, with Pat Sheehan of The Sun telling us that Arsenal are pursuing Newcastle United’s Senegalese star striker.

Ba has been something of a revelation up on Tyneside, and bagged another two league goals during Newcastle’s 3-0 win over Wigan last night.

He has already come out this season and spoke of being unhappy at being played out of position by Alan Pardew, prompting speculation surrounding his future.

The fact he has a £7.5 million buy-out-clause in his contract continues to be mentioned, and Liverpool, Tottenham and now Arsenal are watching developments closely.

Wenger is in the market for a proven Premier League goalscorer after selling Robin van Persie in the summer, and Ba’s performances over the past couple of seasons seem to have done enough to convince him he could be the man to fill the void left by RVP.

Wenger is hoping an offer of £60,000 a week will be enough to persuade Ba to move to North London, although Alan Pardew remains adamant that his star striker is going nowhere.

Do you think Ba will be on his way in January? Can you see him going to Arsenal? Vote in our polls below.

It seems to me that there are a number of strikers seeming likely to mive over the next few months huntelaar llorente and walcott are all entering the last 6 months. sturridge, ba, lewandowski, lopez, carroll, falcao and cavani are all touting moves whilst bendtner and chamakh are free to anyone who will take them.
