Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have been left depressed since the Capital One humiliation at the hands of Bradford City on Tuesday but reports this morning have given some hope of a brighter future after BBC Sport declared that Arsene Wenger has significant money to spend in January.

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis met with the Arsenal’s Supporters’ Trust (AST) last night where he apologised for their latest defeat and promised that Wenger would have money at his disposal.

AST spokesman Tim Payton said: “He said it [the Bradford defeat] wasn’t good enough and apologised for the result. He also thanked away fans for their support and said Arsenal will put that right, and confirmed that significant funds are available for transfers.”

The AST have been avid supporters of the side’s prudent financial outlook but now believe something needs to change after nearly eight-years without winning a trophy.

Payton added: “The Arsenal Supporters’ Trust cannot fathom why £70million was left untouched this summer. Arsene needs to get over his distaste for spending and use the resources that after all are provided by the hard-pressed fans who watch the team.”

There is growing frustration at the way the club is being run after the high profile departures of Robin van Persie, Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri. In addition the club is expected to cash-in on contract rebel Theo Walcott in the transfer window.

Is this the much-needed boost Arsenal require? Vote on our polls below.
