As one of the star strikers in the Premier League this season, the future of Shane Long has often been the source of debate in the Football Transfer Tavern. However the Irish international has put any rumours to bed by dismissing speculation linking him with a move to Liverpool.
The 25-year-old has been in impressive form, scoring eight goals, which has seen him linked with several Premier League including Liverpool but the Baggies have already made clear that they will not sell the striker and he today confirmed he does not want to leave.
He told Sky Sports: “I’m not looking at that. I just concentrate on my football.
“I’m happy at the moment and I’ll let the rumours take care of themselves. It’s flattering but West Brom is a big club as well and I’m enjoying being part of what should be a great season.”
Steve Clarke’s side had made a blistering start to the season, and despite losing their last three games, Long is confident that the side can rediscover the form that took them into the Premier League’s top four.
He said: “We will learn from our mistakes but we’re confident we can get back winning pretty soon.”
Long certainly fits the bill for the sort of player that Rodgers is looking to bring in during the transfer window as he seeks a striking partner for Luis Suarez.
