It’s nearly closing time in the Football Transfer Tavern after another action-packed Saturday but before the bar closes Darren Lewis from Mirror Football suggests that West Ham are ready to sell Carlton Cole with Norwich City and Reading waiting in the wings.

Cole, 29, had been a mainstay in the Hammers attack after Andy Carroll’s injury but it still appears that Sam Allardyce is prepared to let him leave in January with the former Chelsea player set to fall behind new signings in the pecking order.

However the one time England man is determined to stay at Upton Park despite his club’s willingness to let him leave with his contract expiring in the summer. This has left Cole fuming with the club’s attitude towards him.

West Ham have already brought in Marouane Chamakh and Wellington Paulista this January whilst Carroll himself is returning to fitness which could leave Cole surplus to requirements in attack at Upton Park.

With only two goals in his 19 games for the Irons this term, Cole is not exactly prolific, yet reports that Norwich and Reading are interested could mean he is the next player to depart Upton Park as Allardyce freshens up his Premier League squad.

Will Cole be stoking the fire elsewhere after January? Vote in our polls below.
