Why Is AVB Linked With Midfielders – Surely A Striker Is The Priority?

Spurs have a long tradition of throwing cash at new managers in their search for success, and if you believe the reports new manager Andre Villas-Boas isn’t about to be treated any differently.

The Metro are reporting that Tottenham are in the hunt for a new midfielder with Villas-Boas’ former charge Raul Meireles and Real Madrid’s Lassana Diarra heading the list.

Villas-Boas brought Merieles to Stamford Bridge last summer and if he wants to bring the 29 year old with him to the lane the reported asking price is £12 million.

The Metro are suggesting that the new Spurs gaffer is targeting up to six new signings after being handed a war chest of around £40 million, if those figures are to be believed Meireles would leave a huge dent in the rest of Spurs’ summer spending plans.

Should Tottenham manage to once again keep hold of Luka Modric £12 million is surely better spent bolstering the club’s forward options, that are currently light at best. Jermain Defoe is the only real recognised striker at the club and if AVB is to challenge next season he surely needs to strengthen in this department with the addition of at least 2 or 3 proven goalscorers.

Diarra meanwhile could become a Spurs player for as little as £4 million according to The Metro.

Despite impressing during his time on the pitch the former Portsmouth man has fallen so far down Mourinho’s pecking order that such a low offer for the 27 year-old one time French international would be accepted. For the money believed to being asked Lass would prove a useful addition to any squad.

I think COYSPUR is right. However that doesnt mean we have to go for one of Harry’s casts off. As the line in the film Grease “Sloppy seconds aren’t our style”.
Talking about midfielders, Oscar has turned down the chance to join Spurs at moment, well at least it’s not a NO!
Other news is that Vertonghen is supposed to sign subject to medical today and Levy is arguing over the price of Adeboyour. £5m is what Man City want and Ade as already agreed his wages.
Lastly how about getting Robert Van Persie for £25m. I can see it now, RVP and Ade both score an hat-trick against the sorry gooners. Now that would be fun, wouldn’t it!!! COYS!!!!!
