Marseille, who are also in the news due to their desire to offload Loic Remy.
The highly rated player has been linked with a host of clubs in recent weeks including Newcastle and looks set to depart the French club this transfer window. Marseille have finally conceded that the player wants to go and are set on capitalising on his value.
Sporting director Jose Angio claimed: “Some English clubs are looking at our players and have not yet come knocking on the door. It will come. The only window of opportunity at the moment is for Loic Remy, if a big club comes for him and he is interested. We will see, but otherwise no one will go.”
The 24-year-old’s form has been curtailed by a spell of serious injuries, yet Angio also added: “His succession of injuries has hampered him, and saw him miss the Euros. But I think he is back. I can see in training there is a renewed confidence.”
Remy has earned 17 caps for the French national team and has plied his trade across the English Channel for Lyon, Lens and Nice as well as Marseille thus far in his career
