Punters in the Football Transfer Tavern are looking puzzled by conflicting reports about a top transfer target this morning
The Sun report that Tottenham are set to announce the signing of Pablo Osvaldo from Roma today as they look to capture their fifth transfer of the summer transfer window.
Andre Villa-Boas has reportedly been in talks with the Serie A side and is now close to completing a deal for the striker who is looking for regular football ahead of the World Cup in Brazil this summer.
However the Express then suggests to intrigued punters that Southampton have had an £15million offer accepted for the Serie A ace as he inches towards a switch to St Mary’s.
The Italians are prepared to sell the 27-year-old as the looks to raise funds to raid Manchester United for unsettled winger Nani and, according to the Express, they have agreed a fee with the south coast club and the Saints have offered him a four-year contract.
Osvaldo is yet to decide on his future according to reports so there could be some substance that a move to White Hart Lane may be on the cards as he would reportedly rather move to London.
If he does choose Spurs over the Saints, Osvaldo could become the fifth signing at White Hart Lane after Paulinho, Nacer Chadli, Roberto Soldado and Etienne Capoue who have already joined Villas-Boas’ side this summer.
