# £17.89m could see Charnley give go ahead to potential Newcastle United deal

**Though the summer window hasn’t always been the most exciting one for the Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern, the recent signings of Jacob Murphy and Javier Manquillo have renewed their optimism.**

While our local Geordies still hope Rafa Benitez is able to bring in perhaps some bigger names, the fact that ball seems to be rolling now has lifted spirits somewhat. Still, while talking about potential incomings is far more exciting, reports from the [Northern Echo](https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/football/newcastle/15431160.Lyon_to_make____15m_bid_for_Newcastle_United_striker_Aleksandar_Mitrovic/) hint at a potential exit.

According to their [report](https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/football/newcastle/15431160.Lyon_to_make____15m_bid_for_Newcastle_United_striker_Aleksandar_Mitrovic/), Ligue 1 side Lyon are reportedly weighing up a move to bring Alexandre Lacazette to France. Though a popular figure amongst the Toon Army, it’s fair to say the Serbian hasn’t always quite convinced since joining from Anderlecht in 2015.

Indeed, the Magpies are [reportedly](https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/football/newcastle/15431160.Lyon_to_make____15m_bid_for_Newcastle_United_striker_Aleksandar_Mitrovic/) willing to sell, though Lee Charnley is [said](https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/football/newcastle/15431160.Lyon_to_make____15m_bid_for_Newcastle_United_striker_Aleksandar_Mitrovic/) to be ready to demand a fee of €20m, roughly £17.89m. For their part, *Les Gones* are [thought](https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/football/newcastle/15431160.Lyon_to_make____15m_bid_for_Newcastle_United_striker_Aleksandar_Mitrovic/) to be preparing a [€15m](https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/football/newcastle/15431160.Lyon_to_make____15m_bid_for_Newcastle_United_striker_Aleksandar_Mitrovic/) formal offer for the 22-year-old, who they have [apparently](https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/football/newcastle/15431160.Lyon_to_make____15m_bid_for_Newcastle_United_striker_Aleksandar_Mitrovic/) made him their No.1 target.

Selling Mitrovic would certainly have Tyneside tongues talking. A popular figure, the idea of replacing him for a more prolific central striker is a tempting one for our local Newcastle fans.

**Thoughts?**
