# 2 players who could follow Willian to Man United in January

**Our Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern are expecting a busy January window after watching their side trail bitter rivals Manchester City for much of the campaign thus far.**

The latest Chelsea player rumoured to be eager to link back up with former boss Jose Mourinho is Willian, after a lack of first-team opportunities the Brazilian is[reported](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-5179665/Manchester-United-make-enquiry-Chelsea-star-Willian.html)to be open to a move to Old Trafford, to link up with the manager who first brought him to England back in 2013.

Chelsea may be reluctant to let another player go to such a close rival, after Nemanja Matic’s move in the summer but if they should receive the right kind of offer like our barman says, everyone has a price. Indeed, the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ will surely look to strengthen his squad in a bid to catch local rivals Man City in the second half of the season.

With that in mind, our landlord takes a look at two potential players to follow Willian to Old Trafford this winter…

## Danny Rose

The Tottenham left-back has been [linked](https://www.ibtimes.co.uk/manchester-united-confident-completing-50m-deal-tottenhams-danny-rose-1650138) to Old Trafford since the summer after a controversial interview in which he opened the doors to a move to either The Red Devils or Chelsea.

With Mourinho not having cemented a player in the left-back position this season, and in general, United have struggled to replace Patrice Evra since he left, this could be a good move all around.

## Joao Mario

The Inter Milan player has fallen out of favour this season, with his performances not being to the standard his manager expects of him. Inter are holding out for a [swap deal](https://www.ibtimes.co.uk/inter-milan-keen-swap-joao-mario-manchester-united-misfit-henrikh-mkhitaryan-1651568)that could potentially include United’s own out-of-favour midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, a move that could prove beneficial to all.

Mario looked a decent option in the centre of the park, so the idea of bringing him in for a player out in the cold would be a popular one.
