# 3 things we learned from Man United v Leicester in the Community Shield

**So, the traditional curtain raiser to the new season has been and gone and thanks to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, it was Manchester United that ran out 2-1 winners. The United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are absolutely buzzing!**

Jose Mourinho took home his first trophy in-charge and whilst it was billed as a competitive fixture, there was a lot of change from both sides with plenty of players being involved in the game.

Goals from Lingard and the Swede gave United the win, sandwiched between a goal from Jamie Vardy after a horrendous mistake from Marouane Fellaini, everyone’s favourite comedy villain.

But in-between the hate-fuelled chants being directed at the Belgian, there were plenty of other bites of action too and the match went some way as to showing us just how this season will pan out.

So with all of this in mind, here are THREE things we learned from the Community Shield final between Manchester United and Leicester City.

## Jesse Lingard proves his class yet again

Jesse Lingard really did look good again against Leicester City at Wembley.

He seems to play fantastically there every time he gets the chance and as he showed when opening the scoring, he’s full of pace, energy and can be trusted to produce the final product.

He ran straight through the Leicester ranks from midfield, found himself through on goal and then slotted home with relative ease. If he can keep producing for like that, then he’s surely going to have another great season for sure.

## Eric Bailly looks an impressive addition

Regardless of result, this really was Eric Bailly’s best showing in a United shirt. He’s attracted a fair bit of criticism during pre-season but he looked pretty assured against the Ranieri’s champions at Wembley.

He’s got a solid balance of speed and strength and seems to read the game extremely well indeed. The African centre-half could serve to be an extremely handy signing.

## Leicester City fans dominate proceedings

Leicester City fans were EVERYWHERE before the game started and travelled down to London in their thousands.\
Some United fans had been criticising them on Twitter for taking the game “too seriously” but it’s not every day you get the chance to play on the biggest stage in England.

Good for them- they deserve it after all of their success last season.
