The Arsenal fans in the Tavern are buoyant and are expecting a repeat performance against FC Basel on Wednesday night. European nights can always be unpredictable, however – and our landlord is expecting the game to be a close one. He adds that a couple of changes should be made at most by Arsene Wenger – with his side proving at the weekend that they are good enough to start again. With that said, we think that this 4-2-3-1 Arsenal XI will obliterate FC Basel on Wednesday night… ## GK – David Ospina ![4854641](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/4854641-500x377.jpg) David Ospina will continue to deputise for Petr Cech in continental competition – and another relatively good performance is likely to follow. Despite his rare game time, Ospina is a top keeper – and a more than able alternative to Cech. ## RB – Hector Bellerin ![Ozil Bellerin](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/4778649-500x326.jpg) Bellerin has gone from strength to strength in recent weeks – and you would expect him to become a real threat down the right hand side. Basel wont be able to handle him. ## CB – Shkodran Mustafi ![shkodran-mustafi](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Shkodran-Mustafi-500x361.jpg) Shkodran Mustafi has made a good start to life at Arsenal – and has formed an excellent partnership with Laurent Koscielny. Expect more solid, German defending. ## CB – Laurent Koscielny ![Koscielny](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Koscielny-500x336.jpg) More of the same from the Frenchman. An unstoppable central defender. A fan favourite amongst the Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern. ## LB – Nacho Monreal ![nacho-monreald](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Nacho-Monreald-500x381.jpg) More consistency down the left-hand side. Monreal completes an unstoppable defence. Basel will find it very difficult to get past this back-line – Monreal included. ## DM – Granit Xhaka ![Xhaka](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Xhaka-500x333.jpg) An injury to Francis Coquelin could well permit Granit Xhaka an oppurtunity in the Arsenal first team. The Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern scream shoot whenever he gets the ball – and no doubt a few of our punters will back him for another goal in the Champions League. He needs to perform well if he wants to keep his side. ## DM – Santi Cazorla ![santi-cazorlakl](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Santi-Cazorlakl-500x343.jpg) The Spaniard has developed into an impressive defensive midfielder, and acts as the perfect connection between defence and attack. Expect him to pump the ball forward to the danger men up front. ## RAM – Theo Walcott ![Theo WalcottTheo Walcotts](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Theo-WalcottTheo-Walcotts-500x324.jpg) Theo Walcott was touted for an Arsenal departure by many in the Football Transfer Tavern after a disappointing spell for the London side – but this season he looks back to his best. He has been creating, scoring, and playing well for Arsene Wenger – and he has made the right-hand side of the Arsenal attack his own. ## CAM – Mesut Ozil ![mesut-ozild](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Mesut-Ozild-500x318.jpg) The German magician has been back to his best in recent weeks, and even popped up with a goal at the weekend against Chelsea. The number 10 spot is his own, and at this rate – he’ll have it for the foreseeable future. ## LAM – Alex Iwobi ![ozil iwobi](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/OzilIwobi-500x358.jpg) Alex Iwobi has exploded onto the scene this season, and offered up a man of the match performance against Chelsea at the weekend. Threatening going forward, solid defensively – Iwobi looks to be the complete package. He is getting better and better. ## FWD – Alexis Sanchez ![sanchez](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Sanchez-500x333.jpg) Arsenal fans have often been frustrated when they see Alexis Sanchez leading the Arsenal attack – but you can’t argue with results. The Chilean has played his role in a collection of excellent Arsenal performances in recent weeks playing up front – and if isn’t broken; don’t fix it. Expect a goal.
