# 4-2-3-1….This XI will win Rangers the league next year ahead of arch rivals Celtic

**Rangers are back in the Scottish Premier League after gaining promotion three times in the space of four years.**

Now under Mark Warburton’s guidance, they are gearing to take the top flight by storm and they have been busy already this summer.

With the arrival of two central midfielders in Jordan Rossiter arriving from boyhood club Liverpool and the heavily experienced Joey Barton from Burnley, the former Brentford chief has added a dynamism to his engine room.

The Geers have also brought in former Queens Park Rangers pair Niko Kranjcar and Clint Hill, who will bring both class and even more experience to Ibrox.

Rangers have also been linked with former Newcastle defender Steven Taylor as Warburton is keen to strengthen all areas of his side.

Now our writer **George Boulton** in the *Transfer Tavern* has worked out who will be played where, should Warburton choose to play a 4-2-3-1.

## GK – Wes Foderingham

Despite Warburton publicly stating that he is keen to bring in fresh blood this summer, it is believed Wes Foderingham’s position at the club is safe.

The 25-year-old signed a three-year deal this time last year and after an impressive debut season, he has become popular amongst fans and punters in the Tavern believe they are in safe hands if he is the number one ahead of next season.

## RB – James Tavernier

![Tavernier](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Tavernier.jpg)

First of all, here in the Tavern, we love his surname.

Putting that to one side, there are question marks surrounding his quality as a defender.

But the 24-year-old has made himself a key player at Ibrox thanks to his goalscoring prowess as he finished the season with a staggering 15 goals.

If he can find the right balance between finding the back of the net and being reliable in Rangers’ defence.

## CB – Dominic Ball

![Ball](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Ball.jpg)

Dominic Ball is a Tottenham Hotspur youngster and he spent the whole of last season on loan at Rangers, helping them gain promotion to the Scottish top flight.

His loan spell at Ibrox, saw him hook up with Mark Warburton, who was his academy manager when he was younger at Watford.

Rangers are yet to make a move to bring Ball back to Scotland, but after impressing last season, they are keen to get him back.

Ball has made it clear that the decision is up to Spurs, but he is open to returning to Ibrox.

For Warburton, it’s imperative he does.

## CB – Danny Wilson

![Wilson](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Wilson.jpg)

The Scottish born defender has a long affiliation with the club after coming through the ranks at Ibrox, before moving to Liverpool.

Wilson returned to Glasgow last summer, signing a three year deal and as things stand he is the best man to potentially accompany Ball and Warburton is clearly a huge fan of his, after handing him 42 appearances last season.

## LB – Lee Wallace

There’s is one clear candidate for this position and it’s Lee Wallace.

The club captain and last season’s Player of the Season will be expected to play a huge role next season and it’s expected that he will play a huge role again next season.

Only a few days ago Wallace made it load and clear to Celtic’s new boss Brendan Rodgers that they are targeting their league title.

Quite the statement of intent for a newly promoted side. No matter who they are.

## CM – Jordan Rossiter

Jordan Rossiter has left Rangers fans propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern very excited since his move to Ibrox from Liverpool was confirmed.

The fiery midfielder was tipped to fill Steven Gerrard’s shoes at Anfield and people on Merseyside were shocked to hear that the Reds let him go.

His attacking enterprise pushing forward and heart-on-the-sleeve attitude is likely to stand him in good stead.

Loves a long shot, too.

## CM – Joey Barton

Rossiter will be joined by fellow Liverpudlian Joey Barton.

For Barton to move on from Burnley after their promotion, it would have to be for a big club and it seems as though he could not resist the stature of Rangers.

People are licking their lips in the Tavern for the moment he lines up against Celtic in the Old Firm derby, it’s bound to be tasty.

Never a dull moment in the life of the ex-Newcastle and Manchester City star, he was excellent amid the Clarets’ promotion last term.

## RW – Michael O’Halloran

Michael O’Halloran could run Scottish Premier League defenders ragged next season as he brings raw pace to the pitch.

After heavy speculation he finally arrived at Ibrox last February and after having time to settle into life as a Rangers player, he could become an important player next year.

## CAM – Niko Kranjcar

![Niko Kranjcarddd](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/Niko-Kranjcarddd.jpg)

Out of Rangers’ long list of arrivals this summer, Niko Kranjcar’s move excites the most.

He is an experienced and very talented player who on his day could win any match in the Scottish Premier League.

The 31-year-old has also previously played at big clubs with huge expectation after playing at both Tottenham and Dynamo Kiev.

His majestic ability to dictate play in the final third is a tantalising prospect, especially considering the space and time likely to be afforded to him.

## LW – Harry Forrester

Harry Forrester has impressed fans in the Football Transfer Tavern since his move from Doncaster in the last January transfer window.

Since his arrival he has made 16 appearances under Warburton and netted 5 goals, and we back him to improve on last season.

## ST – Martyn Waghorn

![Waghorn](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Waghorn.jpg)

Martin Waghorn managed to finish last season as Rangers’ top scorer despite suffering a devastating knee ligament injury, which kept him out for around six to eight weeks.

He will like to think he will be given a fair chance to lead the line next season after scoring a staggering 28 goals in just 36 appearances.
