# 4 players Man United should shatter their transfer record for this summer

**Manchester United’s transfer policy over the past two years or so has been inherently flawed and has led to some of the biggest gaffes in Premier League history.**

Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao being the prime examples here.

However, despite largely wasting £250m under Louis van Gaal, the Red Devils are still major players in the transfer market and won’t be far from top end talent should such individuals become available this summer.

A testament to how big an institution of world football they are, though this summer will surely be a pivotal one.

While Pep Guardiola’s arrival at Manchester City guarantees little, the Red Devils simply cannot afford to lose any further ground on their noisy neighbours.

With Arsenal and Chelsea likely to spend a lot this summer and the likes of Tottenham and Liverpool benefiting from the most high pressing hipster regimes around, the club simply have to get it right this season.

That’s not to mention Premier League champions Leicester City who will no doubt be looking to continue their sensational journey.

So, it really is now or never for Ed Woodard and company at the Theatre of Dreams.

They need to buy big players. They need to by the right players.

So, to that end, here are FOUR players Manchester United really should smash their transfer record for this summer.\

## Antoine Griezmann

Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann has established himself as one of the most potent attackers in world football while playing in a league largely dominated by the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

That takes some doing.

The Red Devils are desperate for another big name to join their attacking ranks and the Frenchman would be an ideal candidate.

His ingenuity on the ball may cost a pretty penny, but it would be priceless at the Theatre of Dreams.

## James Rodriguez

Okay, so the last time the Red Devils made a big money acquisition from Real Madrid, it did not really go to plan.

In fact, the capture of Angel Di Maria for around £59m in 2014 is currently what their transfer record stands at.

However, the Colombian is a very different player to his fellow South American.

Rodriguez is far more controlled, not so likely to go on marauding runs that leave space exposed. While that is Di Maria’s great strength, it proved tactically untranslatable under Louis van Gaal.

## Neymar

Suggesting the Red Devils should sign Neymar is no profound footballing insight, though perhaps they can capitalise on his ongoing contract situation with Barcelona.

The Brazilian had a poor end to the season though is without one of the major stars in world football and would represent an unbelievable coup.

Ambitious, but United need to throw everything at their attempts to restore former glories while they still can.

## Harry Kane

Obviously, Harry Kane is in a wonderful position with Tottenham Hotspur and it would be one of the most amazing stories in Premier League history.

However, if there is (and it is slim) any chance at all of landing the England international, United really should look into it.

At just 22, the Spurs ace is the best striker in the country and has all the tools to go on and become a legend. Perhaps internationally too.

Simply put, if you can land him, do it.
