# Achtung! Ze Germanz Mounting Eine £8M Villa Raid!

[![Curtis Davies](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/Davies_Curtis-150x150.jpg)](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/2010/12/premiership/aston-villa/achtung-ze-germanz-set-mount-eine-8m-villa-raid/attachment/davies_curtis/)Aston Villa’s on-loan defender Curtis Davies has been tipped as a top target for German outfit, Werder Bremen.

The Bundesliga team are having an indifferent season this term, despite finishing 3rd last year. Defensive troubles have led to a -12 goal difference and a league position of 14th. Bremen also slumped out the Champions League too, finishing bottom of Tottenham’s Group A and missing out on a Europa League place in the process.

Pressure on manager Thomas Schaaf has left the head coach in desperate need to strengthen in January, but a poultry £4.25million transfer budget in the new year has left Schaaf looking at cheaper options.

Davies joined Villa for a reported £8million in 2008 following a successful season long loan. However, a shoulder injusry in 2009 left the former England U-21 International sidelined. In the meantime, impressive performances from new signings, Richard Dunne and James Collins made it hard for the 25-year-old to break back into the starting XI.

The centre-back has been on loan at Leicester City this season and has won plaudits for his performances in the Championship. He joined the Foxes in October on a month-long loan, but he has since extended his deal through to January.

Many sources have linked Davies with a permanent switch to the Walkers stadium, the Midlands club were recently taken over by an Asian consortium and may now have the funds to complete a permanent switch for the Villa man. However they will certainly struggle to offer a similar wage structure than that of the Bundesliga outfit.

An offer of around £2.5million should be enough to see Davies leave Villa Park. Though, Houllier may think twice about letting the 25-year-old walk out the door so easily after suffering such an injury plagued season.
