# Tottenham Hotspur: Spurs urged to follow up Adama Traore interest

**Tottenham Hotspur have been urged to follow up their reported interest in signing Adama Traore before the summer transfer window ends.**

### The Lowdown: Nuno keen

As per [The Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9849839/New-Tottenham-boss-Nuno-Esp-rito-Santo-set-raid-former-club-Wolves-winger-Adama-Traore.html), Nuno Espirito Santo is keen on bringing his former Wolves player with him to Spurs.

However, the Midlands club are reportedly demanding a fee in the region of £45m, with Liverpool, Chelsea and Leeds United also interested in his signature.

### The Latest: Whelan on Traore

Speaking to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/tottenham-backed-to-sign-exciting-traore-amid-newspaper-revel-pundit/), former Leeds United and Coventry City striker Noel Whelan has urged the North London club to follow up their interest in Traore, and claims that fans would enjoy watching him:

*“He’s a thrilling player, very direct. He improved a lot at Wolves in his time with Nuno Espirito Santo.*

*“The criticism was always that he had a lot of pace but his end product wasn’t there. We’ve seen that’s got a lot better.*

*“He has that trust with Nuno and I think the Tottenham fans would enjoy him. He can open up doors out of nothing.*

*“Liverpool and Leeds United have been interested in him in the past too, of course. So it wouldn’t surprise me at all if they enter talks over that one.*

*“We’ve seen many managers go back to their old clubs and take players from them. It’s something that’s only natural.”*

### The Verdict: Sign

Traore had a [disappointing](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adama-traore/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/204103/plus/0?saison=2020&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=) 2020/21 campaign by his usual standards, but in the previous season he scored six goals and supplied a further 12 assists in 54 matches across all competitions ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adama-traore/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/204103/plus/0?saison=&verein=543&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=)), showing just how dangerous he can be when at his best.

Nuno, who described him as [‘so talented’](https://theathletic.com/2177047/2020/11/03/adama-traore-wolves-puzzle-future/) back in November, will also know how to get the best out of the Spain international, and he would certainly be a different weapon for Spurs to have either from the start or off the bench.

Tottenham would be weakening a rival in the Premier League and making themselves stronger in the process,  so getting a deal done for the 25-year-old really is a no brainer.
