Carlo Ancelotti has been very frank in his assessment of his side’s current predicament; he is lucky still to be employed, and the problem is a simple one:
“We need some players.”
That says it all, really, yet having been denied in their attempts to sign Benfica defender, David Luiz, Chelsea must now turn their attention elsewhere in a bid to stop the rot at Stamford Bridge.
Next on the boss’ wish-list is thought to be young Serbian defender, Neven Subotic, whose recent displays for Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund have also attracted interest from Real Madrid.
Yet Chelsea have been monitoring the 22-year-old’s progress for the last two seasons, and are confident a bid of £15m would be enough to persuade the German giants to sell.
There is, however, a plan B: Bolton’s Gary Cahill, who would cost the Premiership champions up to £20m. An expensive back-up plan, yet Ancelotti claims to have the full financial backing of owner Roman Abramovich, and needs must these days at Stamford Bridge.
The manager is also keen to shake up his side’s attacking options, and reports suggest a move for Valencia’s Juan Mata may also be in the offing this month.
The 22-year-old has become a key player for the Spanish side after the sales of David Villa and David Silva, yet continuing financial problems may leave Valencia no choice but to allow Mata to leave as well. Chelsea would have to fork out another £20m to sign him.
Assuming Chelsea will be more successful in pursuit of their new targets, will this be enough to save their season?

Oh shiiit, if chelsea get these three players we will be rocking hells doors by our performance
but i wood like 2 strikers signed and 1 defender signed as we already hav JT,Alex,Ivanovic and Bruma at bac and 1 add to that wood b enough…

Guys we have a problem here,We need 4 players to wake up from this deep sleep, I suggest to go for Neven Subotic from Bd as a Centre Back, second striker Shinji Kagawa also from Borrusia D, Creative Attacking Midfielder Edin Hazard from Lille France, and Lukaku from Anderlek Bergium. I think this will save our Season.

its not about who to buy. chelsea is been run as a business. it’s about raising revenue and balancing the books before the 2012-13 season begins and new uefa law takes effect. So spending less to keep them in top four or winning the championship isa priority while getting the young ones play is vital…..gone are the spend free days..this been realistic. chelsea starting what arsenal started years ago …been economically self sufficient is the key ..cheers
Chelsea really need to get wilkins back to gain back their form but i doubt the chances of that happening but heres a thought since one of the most sensational players in football history is about to exist his team… why don’t chelsea bid for Ronaldinho ¬¬ , Ronaldinho is not that old and not to mention his unbelieveable accuracy in his passes and his great intelligence and tricks.
