# Ancelotti ‘Modric No#1 On HitList’ – Daily Mirror Rubbish

[![Luka Modric](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/Luka_Modric_738015a-150x150.jpg)](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/2010/12/premiership/chelsea/ancelotti-modric-no1-on-hitlist-daily-mirror-rubbish/attachment/luka_modric_738015a/)*The Daily Mirror* have today reported that Carlo Ancelotti is set to make Spurs’ star Luka Modric his number 1 transfer target in January.

Ancelotti’s Chelsea have been struggling of late after an astounding start to the season. They have since dropped to 4th, 3 points off the pace having played one extra game than league leaders Man Utd.

Now Ancelotti is looking to experienced Prem talent like Modric in a bid to turn things around at Stamford Bridge.

The man who is said to have revealed Chelsea’s interest in the Croatian International is Dinamo Zagreb vice-president Zdravko Mamic – the man who negotiated the 25-year-old’s £15.8million switch to White Hart Lane two years ago.

In a meeting with Ancelotti, Mamic is believed to have been told the Chelsea bosses January transfer plans.

***“I was with Ancelotti for lunch. I was very proud when I heard what he said about Modric,”***

***“Luka is top of his list, his first pick when it comes to new signings. I am not Modric’s agent – I am just his friend – but I am very proud.”***

***“I don’t want to say anything more because I don’t want to upset my friends at Tottenham.”***

Well one thing is for certain, it would take a bid well in excess of the £15.8million Spurs paid for the Croatian to secure his services now. Modric has been immense for Spurs this campaign and has quickly become a fans’ favourite in North London. It would take a monster offer from Chelsea to prize one of Redknapp’s star players away from him and with Tottenham’s progress, I would find it hard to believe Modric would want to leave White Hart Lane.

More *Daily Mirror* rubbish? I think so.
