# Liverpool: Fans agree with Piers Morgan’s verdict on club furloughing staff

**The current pandemic is wreaking havoc across the world, and the football industry is not immune.**

It has already [brought a halt](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/mar/13/premier-league-and-football-league-suspended-until-4-april-coronavirus) to the professional tiers in the United Kingdom, whilst a number of the non-league divisions have even been [cancelled](https://talksport.com/football/687788/football-below-national-league-cancelled-coronavirus/). Not only that, some clubs could be forced out of business if the situation does not improve in the near future – even Premier League sides such as [Burnley](https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/11968640/garlick-burnley-could-run-out-of-money-by-august) are in danger.

You wouldn’t expect Liverpool to be in financial ruin any time soon, but that has not stopped the club’s owners [taking advantage](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/52165826) of the government’s initiative to pay 80% of their staff’s wages. That has [not gone down well](https://tribuna.com/en/liverpoolfc/news/2a5b4004-4336-4ec9-9cd4-55c30321168e/) with the fans at all.

Controversial journalist [Piers Morgan has had his say](https://twitter.com/AnfieldWatch/status/1247116191891632129) as well, slamming the owners for their decision. Surprisingly, many Reds supporters appear to agree – even though one pointed out he [hates the club](https://twitter.com/038Degrees/status/1247117726780469255?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) – as you can see below.

And it seems the supporters are fully in agreement with his words. You can see some of the best reactions below.

> Agreed. But unfortunately this is because we’ve always prided ourselves on being a working persons club and a family club and this action is the dead opposite of that. Just as we’re getting back on our football perch we’ll be knocked off our moral one now! Very upsetting

> Even though he hates Liverpool and wants to restart the season just so that we don’t win the league yes, he is right on this one.
