# Rangers: People within club think Angus Gunn would be a ‘good asset’

**[Transfer expert Dean Jones](https://twitter.com/DeanJonesSoccer) says that people within [Glasgow Rangers](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/rangers-fc-transfer-rumours/) think that goalkeeper target Angus Gunn would be a ‘good asset’ for the club.**

### The Lowdown: Rangers interest

It was [reported](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/rangers-fc-news/angus-gunn-transfer-news-norwich-spfl/) earlier this week that Rangers are eyeing up a potential move for Gunn this summer.

He is a player that sporting director Ross Wilson knows well from his time at Southampton, and so could be one to watch once the window opens.

### The Latest: Highly regarded

Speaking to [GiveMeSport](https://www.givemesport.com/rangers-transfer-news-behind-scenes-figures-want-25k-a-week-star-ibrox/), Jones says that there are people within the club that think that Gunn would be a ‘good asset’ for them going forward:

*“There are definitely one or two people within the setup that really do believe that he would be a good asset for the club going forward.*

*“They think he could lift himself to be a really good player for Rangers.”*

### The Verdict: Get it done

Lauded as a ‘[really impressive](https://twitter.com/spbajko/status/1016608960806350849)‘ goalkeeper by journalist Simon Bajkowski, Gunn has proven himself at a high level, playing [31](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/angus-gunn/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/201574/plus/0?saison=&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=GB1&pos=&trainer_id=) times in total in the Premier League, while he has also been [called up](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/angus-gunn/nationalmannschaft/spieler/201574) for the England national team, and been capped at each youth level for the Three Lions.

He ranks in the [top 12%](https://fbref.com/en/players/e082af5b/Angus-Gunn#all_wages) of all goalkeepers outside of Europe’s top five leagues in many key metrics over the past year, and at 27 years of age, is a long-term solution to the likes of 41-year-old Allan McGregor and 35-year-old Jon McLaughlin.

Nonetheless, having been [dropped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/angus-gunn/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/201574/plus/0?saison=2022&verein=1123&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=6092) by manager David Wagner upon his appointment at Norwich City, will be wary that his number one spot is not secure, and so may relish a move to Ibrox in the summer.
