The Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan has categorically denied at a Press Conference that he has plans to make a transfer away from Madrid either this window or in even in the next one.

The player was one of the few in the last World Cup to actually, ‘have a good one’ and Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp, either joking or not said live on air – when on a TV panel  covering the tournament – of Forlan, ***‘He wants to play for Spurs’***.

But this appears not to be the case now. Forlan confirmed that Real Madrid **had** been interested in his signing, but…  ***“About my future, and I have to say that I have renewed my contract.”***

***“What is true is that Gil Marín spoke with my agent and said he rejected the offer and nothing else the rest is speculation, “***

***“We must be united and not get carried away by reports that are often false,***”he added.

Asked if this could be his last months at Atletico, the Uruguayan did not hesitate to answer. ***“I have a contract, I’m fine and I’ve been here three and half years in Madrid. I’d love to fulfill my contract.”***

This is another nail in the coffin of Tottenham solving a striker problem that has them in the unenviable position of having right back Alan Hutton as one of their leading goalscorers.
